Surrounding the ossuary in Teramachi are houses of worship for the religious groups represented at Oku Komyoen. Starting from the rear are temples for 3 Buddhist sects, Nichiren-shu, Shin-shu, Shingon- shu, and two facilities for Shinto, Tenrikyo and Konkokyo. A Christian church is located on the eastern side of Oku Komyoen in the Miyanodan area. Soka Gakkai has followers, but no place for worship. Most inmates belong to one of these 7 groups. Religious memorial services are held monthly and are generally run by the faithful.
